Highly Successful Partnerships in Southeast Asia

In a world where access to health information across disparities persists, KidsCareEverywhere (KCE) is stepping up to bridge the gaps in underserved regions of the world. This past summer, KCE journeyed to Vietnam and Cambodia, carrying with them a powerful tool for change – DynaMed. This clinical decision support resource from EBSCO Information Services equips clinicians with evidence-based information at the point-of-care, ensuring that medical decisions are grounded in the latest research. The mission of the trip was clear — provide clinicians with training in the use of DynaMed and create a sustainable project that will continue to empower local clinicians in Vietnam and Cambodia with the knowledge to improve health outcomes.

On behalf of DynaMed Champions at VNCH, I want to express our warmest gratitude to the KidsCareEverywhere team. Our staff is excited about the opportunity you gave us to access evidence-based information tools like DynaMed. I hope that distance will never diminish our connection. We wish you a fulfilling and safe volunteer trip. Thank you for being true ambassadors of compassion and making a difference in the world.”

Recognizing the importance of sustainability, KCE implemented a "train-the-trainer" component. Local clinicians, now known as “DynaMed Champions,” become active participants in the training process. Through comprehensive training, Champions gain the expertise to train their peers, creating a self-sustaining cycle of knowledge dissemination that extends beyond the limitations of a short-term visit. KCE trained a total of 36 DynaMed Champions across the three partnering medical institutions — Vietnam National Children’s Hospital (VNCH) in Hanoi, Angkor Hospital for Children in Siem Reap, and the University of Puthisastra in Phnom Penh. With the support of the Champions, KCE provided more than 500 clinicians with access to DynaMed and provided training in searching topics within DynaMed and navigating its feature set.

The impact in this summer’s trip was immediate. Dr. Hong Van Duong, a DynaMed Champion from VNCH stated: “On behalf of Dynamed Champions at VNCH, I want to express our warmest gratitude to the KidsCareEverywhere team. Our staff is excited about the opportunity you gave us to access evidence-based information tools like DynaMed. I hope that distance will never diminish our connection. We wish you a fulfilling and safe volunteer trip. Thank you for being true ambassadors of compassion and making a difference in the world.”

Launching “It’s All About the Kids” Fundraising Campaign in January 2024

The impact of KCE's journey reaches far beyond the borders of Vietnam and Cambodia. KCE has five additional core training sites where DynaMed training is conducted on an ongoing basis: Nepal, Bangladesh, India, Ghana, and Peru. In 2024, KCE plans to greatly expand program operations to ensure impactful and sustainable programs in new regions, and across current sites through the DynaMed Champions program.

KCE has launched a fundraising campaign with a goal of $250,000. More than 97 percent of donations directly fund programmatic development. Every dollar gets us closer to fulfilling our vision — a world where all clinicians have immediate access to current medical information. Your support can make a lasting difference in the practices of the clinicians, and a transformational change in community healthcare (one doctor sees about 10,000-20,000 patients/year on average!). Join us in building a world where access to the most current, evidence-based medical information knows no borders – donate to KidsCareEverywhere today.
